BATTLING IT OUT

4-26-08 - The 28 team traveled to Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO. Close to 30 360 sprint cars entered to compete at the 3/8 mile track. Jonathan had some heavy hitters in his heat race including Knoxville 410 Champion Brian Brown, WOW Champion Randy Martin, Brian Grimes and many more. Jonathan started on the front row of his heat race and quickly followed (Grimes) at the start of the race. A caution came out with 3 laps to go and allowed (Brown) to slip by. Jonathan finished 3rd.

Starting on the 4th row of the 25 lap A-Main event, Jonathan jumped up to 4th place on the opening lap. He made hi way into the 2nd spot by the 18th lap and set his eyes on leader, Brian Brown. A caution came out on lap 12 allowing the field to re-group. On the restart, Cornell got a jump and drove deep into turns 1 & 2, sliding in front of Brown, but he answered back. With just a few laps to go, Jonathan had another oppurtunity to take lead. Jonathan entered turns 3 & 4, but "hooked" a rut sending his car in the air. 3rd place, Randy Marting, then drove past him. Cornell battled back and forth with Martin for following laps.

Jonathan ended up running 3rd in the Kiowa Line Builders, Yeager's Cycle number 28.
