A "TOP 10" WEEKAND: ASCS 360 SPRING NATIONALS & THE BOB RAMEY SR. MEMORIAL

5-5-08 - This weekand Jonathan competed in the ASCS 360 Spring Nationals on Saturday, May 3rd, at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo and the Bob Ramey Sr. Memorial on Sunday, May 4th, at the State Fair Motor Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.

ASCS 360 Spring Nationals:
Close to 50 sprint cars entered to compete at the 1st Annual ASCS 360 Spring Nationals at LOS. Jonathan started on the inside of the 4th row of his 8-lap heat race. He made his way into 2nd place by lap 4 and challenged 1st place for the remaining of the heat but could not take the lead. Jonathan finished 2nd earning a spot into the A-Main.

The top 8 qualifiers for the A Main drew for their starting position. Jonathan drew "2" so he started on the outside of the front row of the 30-lap A-Main event.

Throughout the race, Jonathan battled hard for 5th place, but as the race went on, he struggled and fell backwards. Jonathan ended up holding on to a 10th place finish in his first ever ASCS National Tour event.

Bob Ramey Sr. Memorial:

Jonathan started 4th row inside of his heat race at the "Historic Half Mile" in Sedalia, Mo on Sunday, May 4th.When the green flag dropped, outside 2nd row starter Mike Trent got sideways and came shooting across the track, collecting Jonathan's car. Jonathan quickly made it back to the pits and his crew got him back on the track before the re-start. Jonathan drove to a 4th place finish, picking up the final transfer spot to the A-Main.

After the heat race, the 28 team realized that the right side of the frame was bent and part of it was broken. They had Tom McGarry (a racing friend) weld the break so Jonathan could make the feature.

Jonathan started outside row 8 (16th) in the 25 lap A-Main. He worked his way into the 9th position half way through the race. With just a few laps to go, Jonathan (running 7th) tried to make a bold move around the high-side to sneak into 5th, but the car did not hold. Jonathan bounced his right-rear tire off of the turn 4 wall allowing 4 cars to get back by him. Jonathan ended up finishing 10th.
